Privacy is dead! And now we know WHO the hacker is – it’s YOU!
There, I’ve said it.
We wantingly, willing give up our information in an endless pursuit of convenience and inquisitiveness, with careless abandon. The more we expose the more susceptible we become to social engineering attacks.
Buzzfeed reports that the FBI is working with “DNA kit” providers to access DNA and other extremely personal information, underscoring the point. Now some may say it’s just the FBI, and aside from the 1984-esque nature that such a relationship conjures, no one, not even the FBI is immune from a successful breach!
Once in the hands of hackers, consider the social engineering attacks, ripe with nuggets of family history that easily lull even the
most cautious and savvy surfer into a feeling of security and safety.
The good news is that, while the mirror is to blame for exposing our data, it’s also the superhero who can protect it!
Practice safe-surfing. Anything you do or put online is no longer private.
